elcome to The Mezzo Cammin Women Poets Timeline Project, which will eventually be the largest database of women poets in the world. The site is a meeting place for poets, scholars, and students of poetry to see the global relationships among women poets across time, space, and national barriers.
Each woman poet will have a photo, data entry, and an essay written specifically for this database. Also, when available, we will include poems by each author or links to poems.
As the database grows, we will see the vast legacy and richness of women's poetry not only in this country, but across the world. At each one of our events, we will have a women poets roll call, where each woman poet will stand and be counted, and that's ultimately what we would like this database to achieve.
Our launch date, March 27, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at the National Museum of Women in the Arts celebrates women's accomplishments during Women's History Month, on the brink of National Poetry Month. Given the scope of our project, we will always be on the brink of discovering new poets and seeing new connections and commonalities on our database.
I lift my glass to women's poetry!
Best,
Kim
